I Got Scammed, Then I Got the Real Thing!
I wanted to take a moment to highlight a wonderful journal I recently bought and also warn you about a scam going around copying this lovely small business. I’m not sponsored by this creator but am motivated to get the word out about her amazing product and help you avoid getting scammed like I did!
Do you love to keep track of your books throughout the year? I certainly do! I recently saw an ad for a physical book journal that had so many features, looked so fun, and was from a small business. This ad was on Facebook and I followed the link to a store…that didn’t look like a small business at all. But I let my want for the item get the best of me and ordered it.

Well, let me tell you! The “journal” took a month to get to me, and when it showed up, it was a flimsy cobbled together mess of AI generated pages. The words printed on the pages were not even in a real language, and the scammers clearly ripped off the original creator’s logo! After much back and forth with the scammers, they refused to give me a refund. PayPal was also difficult but eventually agreed to a PayPal credit, but not cash. The company selling these fake journals is called “GenerouslyEd“, so be on the look out!
You can see in the examples below the REAL versus FAKE journals! In pictures 1 and 2, the real journal is the smaller book below, with the fake clearly the thin, flimsy one above. In picture 3 you can even see how these scammers used AI to copy Liz’s logo!

The good news is you can get the REAL JOURNAL from Liz at Rusty Paper Scissors! This journal is expertly made, with a plethora of diverse pages for everything from reviews and TBR lists to a trope tracker and coloring pages. Liz is a super individual and I hope you head to her shop and pick up your own journal (or anything really, she sells gorgeous jewelry too)!
